Commemorative Plaque Dedication

Approximately 40 people attended the dedication of a commemorative plaque at the site where the first commercial softwood plywood was produced in 1905
by Portland Manufacturing Company. The site is along the Willamette River in the St. Johns district of Portland.

Paul Ehinger (left), Paul F. Ehinger & Associates, and Don Deardorff, founder of Fourply, Inc. and owner of Eagle Plywood Specialties, were each presented a W.E. Difford Medal for Industry contribution.

Guest speaker Chet Orloff, Oregon historian and adjunct professor of urban studies and planning at
Portland State University.

A hightlight of the evening was the showing of a videotape history of the industry that included interviews with several longtime industry leaders.
