In churches, schools, restaurants, and other commercial buildings, glulam is often specified for its beauty as well as its strength. And for good reason; glulam embodies the classic, natural wood appearance that holds a timeless appeal.

Glulam Arches Create Flowing Shapes For Disney ICE

The Disney ICE rink in Anaheim, California features glulam arches curved to a 75-foot radius to form the ice center's roof system. The saddle-shaped, double-curved design was chosen to create a strong sculptural statement.

Environmental Respect Reflected In Engineered Wood

Recreational Equipment Company, or REI, has been an outdoor enthusiast’s mecca since 1938. Their flagship store made extensive use of environmentally efficient engineered wood products, including glulam, exposed OSB panels and plywood.

Glulam was used for roof trusses, roof purlins, floor beams and columns. According to the project architect, "Glulam provides the most resource-efficient use of wood in a structural application. We also used it for the inherent character of wood, which is correct for the store’s environment."

A Rustic Welcome To Wisconsin

The Kenosha Visitor's Information Center greets over 80,000 tourists each year, making it one of the state's busiest information centers. A rustic and open appearance is created using glulams, exposed roof decking and native rock. Six exposed yellow pine glulam trusses span 32 feet, creating a warm and open environment.
