Commemorative Plaque Dedication

Approximately 40 people attended the dedication of a commemorative plaque
at the site where the first commercial softwood plywood was produced in 1905
by Portland Manufacturing Company. The site is along the Willamette River in
the St. Johns district of Portland.

William Bennett presented remarks at the dedication ceremony.

Among those attending were Wendy Ullman and Bob Patton (right),
descendants of Portland Manufacturing Company co-owner Peter Autzen. With

A hightlight of the evening was the showing of a videotape history of the
industry that included interviews with several longtime industry leaders.
