The Lone Survivor House, a retreat for combat veterans in Crystal Beach, Texas, has a truly unique design: a collection of buildings (including a pentagon-shaped building) on piers, connected via an elevated boardwalk. The design presented many framing challenges, which were met through the capabilities of glulam beams. Revised September 2015.
