Where do I find snow load information for my area?

In the Building Planning sections of both IRC and IBC there is a snow load map. It shows the snow loads required in your area. The map is shown on Figure R301.2(5)

What are typical live loads for residential buildings?

Live loads requirements are also defined in IRC and IBC in the Building Planning section but typically are 40 pounds per square foot for living areas and 30 pounds per square foot for sleeping areas or bedrooms.

Does APA have recommendations on brands or types of joist or beam hangers?
