ANSI/APA PRP 210-2024 establishes the qualification requirements, test methods, and marking criteria for performance-rated engineered wood siding — a veneer-based, structural-use product intended for exterior wall applications in both panel and lap forms. The standard covers everything from raw materials and adhesive bond performance to structural capacity under concentrated, uniform, and impact loads, as well as dimensional tolerances, moisture content limits, and quality assurance procedures. For manufacturers, it provides a clear framework for product qualification and consistent quality control; for specifiers and code officials, it offers confidence that certified products meet rigorous, consensus-based performance benchmarks tied to the International Building Code and International Residential Code.

ANSI/APA PRP 210-2024 provides the performance requirements, test methods, and marking provisions for engineered wood siding qualified for use as exterior cladding. It serves manufacturers seeking product qualification and certification, specifiers selecting code-recognized siding products, and code officials verifying compliance with referenced performance benchmarks.
Applies to performance-rated engineered wood siding — a veneer-based, structural-use product that may include hardboard face layers and/or resin-impregnated overlays.
Covers both panel siding (minimum 4-foot widths, installed with the long axis parallel to supports) and lap siding (12-inch or narrower widths, installed with the long axis across supports).
Intended for exterior wall applications when fastened to supports spaced in accordance with the product's span rating (typically 16 or 24 inches on center).
Addresses the product at the time of manufacturing; preservative treatment efficacy and finish adhesion are outside its scope.
Materials: Wood veneer must meet PS 1 "C" grade or better; hardboard faces must comply with ANSI A135.4 Class 1; overlays must meet PS 1 Section 5.6.7; adhesive bond lines must satisfy PS 1 Exterior bond requirements.
Structural qualification: Products must pass six performance tests — concentrated static loads, uniform loads, hard-body impact, soft-body impact, fastener head pull-through, and wall racking (panel siding only).
Additional qualification: Buckling performance under one-sided wetting and overlay surface characteristics (vacuum-pressure-dry durability and machinability) must also be demonstrated.
Dimensional tolerances: Thickness, length, width, squareness, and straightness must fall within specified limits consistent with PS 1.
Product evaluation and mill specification: Reference values for thickness, bending stiffness, bending strength, and (where applicable) linear expansion and thickness swell must be established during qualification.
Marking and certification: Products must bear the stamp of an Accredited Certification Agency, include the "ANSI PRP 210" designation, and ship at no more than 16% moisture content.

December 2023:
In 2023 and 2024, ANSI/APA PRP 210-2019, Standard for Performance-Rated Engineered Wood Siding, was reviewed, revised and approved by the Committee and published as ANSI/APA PRP 210-2024. The major changes to this Standard were:
Update of the Standard in the size tolerance (Section 9.1)
Update of the Standard in marking and certification (Section 10.2)
Quality assurance requirements (new Section 10.3) for consistency with PS 1-22
