•     Reproduce up to 500,000 copies of the asset in all media, including product packaging, printed marketing materials, digital documents, or software.
•     Include the asset in email marketing, mobile advertising, or a broadcast or digital program if the expected number of viewers is fewer than 500,000.
•     Post the asset to a website or social media site with no limitation on views.

National Consensus Standards Developed by APA

APA has published or is actively maintaining a range of national consensus standards for engineered wood products and systems. Published by APA and approved by ANSI, these standards establish requirements for product qualification, performance, quality assurance, testing, or manufacturing.

APA Activates Standards Committees

September 2025—APA has activated the APA Standards Committee for the revision of ANSI/APA PRR 410, Standard for Performance Rated Engineered Wood Rim Boards. ANSI/APA PRR 410 has been adopted by the 2018, 2021, and 2024 International Residential Code (IRC) and International Building Code (IBC) in the U.S.

July 2026—APA has activated the APA Standards Committee for the revision of ANSI A190.1, Product Standard for Structural Glued Laminated Timber. ANSI A190.1 has been adopted by the 2018, 2021, and 2024 International Residential Code (IRC) and International Building Code

Standards are developed through an ANSI-approved consensus process designed to ensure openness, transparency, and balanced representation across stakeholder groups. Committee membership is open to manufacturers, suppliers, users, and other interested parties.

What is an ANSI-approved standard?

An ANSI-approved standard is developed through a formal consensus process approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and follows the Due Process Requirement for American National Standards. That process is designed to ensure standards are created openly and fairly, with balanced participation from manufacturers, engineers, testing agencies, regulators, code officials, and other stakeholders.

ANSI approval does not mean ANSI writes the standard itself. Instead, it confirms that the standards developer—in this case APA—follows established procedures for transparency, consensus, appeals, and technical review.

For manufacturers and specifiers, ANSI-approved standard provides confidence that the standard represents broadly accepted industry requirements rather than the interests of a single organization or company.

Why do engineered wood product standards matter?
