APA – The Engineered Wood Association has made two changes to its Board of Trustees. John Beers III of Georgia-Pacific has been elected board chair, and Brian Cullen of PWT has joined the board.
Beers is president of the structural panels business at Georgia-Pacific. As an industry veteran, Beers has a wealth of knowledge and experience acquired over the past 25 years. He began his career in sales with Grant Forest Products in 2002, joining Georgia-Pacific in 2010 as part of the company’s Grant acquisition. He quickly moved up within the company, rising to president after just 13 years. Throughout his career, Beers has worked on all levels of the supply chain, from supporting builders and distributors to working closely with manufacturing operations. He graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor’s in business administration. Beers succeeds Doug Asano of Roseburg Forest Products Co. as APA board chair. Asano will continue to serve as a trustee.
Cullen is senior vice president of operations at PWT. He began his career at Weyerhaeuser in 2002, spending more than 13 years there in plant management, process improvement and industrial engineering. From there, Cullen went to Amazon, where he was a senior fulfillment operations manager. In 2016, he returned to the wood products industry, joining Boise Cascade Co. as production manager for the Eastern region. Cullen spent seven years with Boise Cascade, working as a regional manager in manufacturing, and sales and distribution. In 2023, he was hired by PWT as vice president of operations before being named to his current position in April 2025. Cullen will be replacing Jim Enright, who served on the APA board for more than 15 years. “We are grateful for the invaluable time, dedication and leadership both Doug and Jim have brought to the board,” said APA President Mark Tibbetts. “Their guidance has been essential in advancing APA’s mission and we thank them for their service. At the same time, we’re thankful to have John and Brian’s expertise and leadership on the board and look forward to their continued work in moving our industry forward.”
