Association Promotes Wood Products and Construction with Extensive Collection of Resources and Learning Opportunities

Wood design and construction professionals downloaded APA – The Engineered Wood Association resources more than half a million times from the association’s website in 2017. A trusted source for reliable and accurate wood product and design recommendations, APA continues to build and update its extensive online collection of publications, videos, CAD details, and educational webinars.

APA’s recommendations for design and product installation combine the results of studies conducted at the Association’s research laboratory with knowledge gained from decades of field work. The resulting publications, CAD details, and System Reports are available on APAWOOD.ORG and promoted by APA’s experts in the field to builders, engineers, designers, code officials, and developers. APA field representatives also provide hands-on wood assembly and installation training to builder teams and contractors at no cost.

Recent additions to the APA Resource Library include the Case Study: Advanced Framing Boosts Energy Performance (Form T110), the Technical Note: Design for Force Transfer Around Openings (Form T555), and The Performance Path to Energy Code Compliance (Form R505). The APA Resource Library contains more than 600 publications and the APACAD.ORG site over 250 CAD details in four file types.

In the past year, APA has developed 12 new publications, updated another 17, and introduced three new publications in Mandarin, Spanish, and French-Canadian. A new webpage, APAWOOD.ORG/AMERICA-LATINA, features a compilation of 26 Spanish publications, while the APACAD.ORG site includes select CAD details in Spanish.

From the “how to” Builder Tips found in the APA Resource Library to the on-demand webinars with CEU credits, APA has resources for everyone in residential, multifamily, mixed-use, and commercial design and construction. Most publications are available for free download, and select others are also available in print for a nominal fee.

APA also offers a free Product Support Help Desk service that is open to phone inquiries, weekdays 7AM to 4PM Pacific Time, at (253) 620-7400, or by message or email anytime.
