One North Office Buildings

One North, a three-building timber-framed office development in Portland, Oregon, demonstrates how engineered wood can serve both structural and sustainability goals in commercial construction. The project makes extensive use of Douglas-fir glulam beams and columns, along with tongue-and-groove cedar decking—all left exposed to meet the aesthetic demands of modern office space while leveraging wood's natural carbon-sequestration and insulating properties.

This publication is designed for: architects, designers, builders

This case study discusses how the project teams engineered each building's wood framing system, navigated construction type requirements, and used wood to advance a replicable model for sustainable commercial development.
