When substituting fasteners for those recommended by the manufacturer, make sure that the new fasteners have at least the same corrosion resistance protection and the same head diameter (of at least 3/8 inch) and are galvanized or stainless steel. Any fasteners substituted for vinyl siding must meet these requirements, as well as the withdrawal attachment requirements based on current code.
