California Wildland Urban Interface Approvals for APA Siding

Technical Topic

In compliance with the California Building Code (CBC), exterior siding used in designated Wildland Urban Interface areas must be listed by the Office of the State Fire Marshal’s Building Materials Listing Program (BML) as meeting the requirements of the Office of the State Fire Marshal (SFM).

This publication is designed for: architects, engineers, builders, building code officials

This publication lists two APA 303 panel siding groove patterns that can be found in the BML online database. The approvals are based on the results of a series of fire tests that APA sponsored at an SFM accredited fire test laboratory. Both panel constructions represent the constructions and wood species most commonly available in the marketplace and represent the types of 303 siding panels that would have the least fire resistance in the fire test.
