Panel Thickness Tolerances and Labeling
Technical Topic
Structural plywood and oriented strand board (OSB) produced to Voluntary Product Standard PS 1, Structural Plywood and Voluntary Product Standard PS 2, Performance Standard for Wood Structural Panels are manufactured to performance specifications that include dimensional tolerances. NIST regulations applicable to structural panels do not permit the minus 1/32-inch tolerance applied to nominal panel thickness as used in previous versions of PS 1 and PS 2.
This publication is designed for: builders, contractors
This publication discusses the regulations that weights and measure regulators must follow and provides guidance on how to comply with NIST regulations while still providing for traditional specifications used in the U.S. model building codes.
